At the AGM our members present voted almost unanimously in favour of continuing with a coffee shop and catering operation both for members and the public. The vast majority present preferred the option of a third party to run it. A number of providers have already registered interest and have been down to see the venue and meet members of the committee. We are expecting these interested parties to provide proposals by the end of the month and will provide an update in Mid-January after your committee has reviewed them. We are sad to announce that the Galley Group has told us that their coffee shop business is no longer viable and has ceased trading.
Rudyard Sailing Club would like to thank all those that have worked so hard over the last two years to set up and run the coffee shop and in particular the staff who have created such a warm and welcoming environment. The management committee believe that a vibrant outlet offering services to our members and the public is an important part of the future of the club. We are therefore exploring options for both a member run operation and also a different third party running a business from the same location.
Unfortunately, this will take some time, and as a result the coffee shop will be closed whilst we evaluate and consider options for the future.
As part of this process, we will be seeking input from club members at the AGM on Sunday 11th December, so please come down and make your views known. Alternatively please email the commodore (commodore@rudyardlakesc.org.uk). Specifically, if the club was to setup a member run operation, we would be looking for someone with experience of catering businesses to help set up and run the operation.
