Welcome to a new season of sailing with the Rudyard Lake Sailing Club Jybaz. We are a special group for the younger members of our Sailing Club. To be in our group you must:
Most of us are between the ages of seven years old and sixteen years old, but that doesn’t mean we will not welcome others. All children and youths up to the age of 18 are welcome. Our youngest members join our group to have fun and gain confidence on the water whilst playing around in boats safely. We quickly learn how to sail different types of small dinghies and start to join in the Jybaz races. By the time we get to about sixteen we are ready to join in with the adult sailing and races on a Sunday, although some of us start before then by sailing with adults in their boats. This year we are introducing a racing series on Saturday for our Jybaz to help them to gain experience and confidence in taking part in races. This year the last race on Sunday has a special section for youth sailors under 18, we hope that some of our Jybaz will start to enter this race also. Saturday is our usual sailing day for Jybaz when we can have most of the lake and club facilities to ourselves but not on every Saturday. Most of our members concentrate on school activities during the cold winter months and there are Saturdays through the year when other things happen at the club. Typical times are: * From 9.30 am sailing club will be open * 10.00 am session starts * 4.00 pm off water and put boats away
The Jybaz calendar for 2008 is:
On Saturday 15th March We will be having a meeting for all parents, grandparents and guardian of Jybaz on this day so that we can explain our plan for the year and listen to your ideas on how we can improve the Jybaz sessions and get you more involved. On the 15th we will also be asking for volunteers for the galley, safety boat cover so we can pull a rota together for the year, so please come with the dates when you will be available.
Keep your eyes and ears open, other dates and events could be arranged as the year progresses.
Smile with the wind, and the wind will smile with you.
