As we are restricted to the number of students who can be taught by a single instructor and we have a limited number of qualified RYA Instructors we will have to restrict student numbers. This also means that we can only give formal RYA training to one group (Stage) of students each week as they are to be supervised by the Senior Instructor.
What this all means is that each Jybaz Stage will receive formal RYA Training on 4 or 5 days through the year. The students who are not under the formal RYA Training will take part in club organized / supervised sailing, still teaching them but this will be un certified. This will be under the supervision of a club Assistant Instructor.
At all times the correct level of rescue boat safety cover will be provided.
The team has been busy over the winter period and has trained 6 new rescue boat drivers, to ease the burden on the few regulars and is currently training 5 Assistant Instructors. There are plans for 2 of the Jybaz Assistants to go forward for their RYA Dinghy Instructor Course during the year (No pressure there then!)
So, to enable us to control the numbers for 2010 you will need to book your child onto the Stage they want to participate on (if they received a Stage 2 Certificate last year then they need to apply for the Stage 3 Course this year). Places are limited and we have decided where there are more applicants than places that those with the highest attendance records will take first priority. Please fill in the application form on the attached Excell Sheet. This needs to be emailed back to Tricia before the first Jybaz session on the 6th March 2010. Ideally print, sign, scan and email to Tricia, other options are to print, sign and post to Tricia.
Attached is a copy of the programme of RYA Training dates – you will note that the Stage 3 sailors are the first stage to have formal training. All other stages will be under supervised club sailing for the first 5 weeks. This will then switch to Stage 1 & 2 and finally to Stage 4. It is important that your child attends all of the stage sessions.
John will continue his Racing training and he has lots to tell you about when you return to Jybaz. We have had lots of meetings and met with some Senior Personnel form the RYA to look at how we take the club and Jybaz to the next level. John will update you on this at the second Jybaz on the 20th March 2010.
We will be looking for the same level of assistance from the parents through 2010 as we saw in 2009, with Beach Masters and shore help, which are essential to the operation of Jybaz. Equally as important is the Galley and I know that Diane Gruber will be seeking out volunteers to assist or run the Galley on the Jybaz days. Don’t be phased by this, its not that difficult. Please see Diane at the first Jybaz to put your name down.Downloads
